Why not join the VICE team and contribute with this brilliant piece of code? Wouldn't it be possible to integrate this in the official distribution?
Also (which might be a prerequisite for joining); Rather than the layout view I would prefere to have each of the segments as a separate window that could be turned on and off (more control over what I see and the layout)...
VICE is emulator of various Commodore devices, intended to work quickly and be optimised for different platforms (like AmigaOS). C64 Debugger adds huge overhead to the emulation engine. It is doable but definitely not simple and could make ports to low-end platforms suffer.
Ok, can I then change the request to a suggestion of contributing to VICE with establishing an API that the debugger can use. This way debugger would still be independant of the VICE version and the debugger would also then be able to use a VICE version that has als the latest features and bugfixes. As per the VICE mailinglist the current status of this interfac is that it's only for reading and it's also undocumented.
