I'm getting an error when a domain user logs in on a TTY console. The error is mount.c:72 with 2 sub errors of mount.c:76 & another that's pam_mount.c:522. This last one says mount of NETLOGON failed. Anyone know what's causing this? The attached file shows the relevent /var/log/syslog content.

From your log it seems to me to be due to the target OS version not being compatible with the newer versions of the smb protocol. try adding "cifs vers=1.0" in the mount command.

I had seen this error before, but so far I haven't found a solution. I recommend you to open a bug for pam_mount support at the following link: https://sourceforge.net/p/pam-mount/bugs/

Eduardo, I've got a message that's coming up when I login to a TTY console. It only happens when I login with a domain user. The message says "HXproc_run_async: pmvarrun: No such file or directory". I'm not even sure this is a bona fide error or just a message but I'm getting some weird stuff going on & wanted to get your input. Is there a log file that you would need to look at to help figure this out? This is on a Debian derivative called antiX 23.1. More than a year ago you had given me the instructions on how to install CID for antiX. It requires that I install all the system requirements & then use INSTALL.sh from the downloaded 1.2.5 tarball & it seems to work fine. What do you think?
Thanks!!! Vance

Now I remember the pmvarrun program comes up as missing when I install CID. systemctl comes up as missing also & of course the systemctl program error is due to the fact that antiX doesn't have systemd as the init system. I'm thinking that the pmvarrun error can be ignored & my weird stuff going on is due to something else. For my install of antiX 23.1 I had tried an init system called runit which is 1 of the options that they now have in antiX. I'm now in the process of installing antiX 23.2 & reverting back to sysVinit for the init system. If you have any insights I would appreciate hearing them.
Thanks!!! Vance

Sorry for the delay. I've been too busy with several demands lately.
pmvarrun is a program provided with the pam_mount package, which CID uses for execute logon scripts. If you don't need this it, yes, you can ignore it.
I'm very hesitant to give you any opinion on your incessant saga of finding alternatives to the controversial SystemD, but in all sincerity I would say: give in, my friend! I believe there is no way to escape it anymore. Although it is not Thanos, it is also inevitable! hehehe
