As of versions 1.6.1 and 1.7.1 there's an online update script called 'bygfoot-update' for the source package, located in the directory with the configure script. In theory, users using the source package shouldn't have to download new versions anymore, they can simply use the update script to keep their version up-to-date.... read more

1.6.0 and 1.7.0 hang at end of season

There's unfortunately a very annoying bug in the newest versions: if live game is switched on and there are no games the current week (e.g. at the end of the season) the game hangs.

There'll be corrected versions online soon, but here's a simple
workaround for the time being: just switch live games off (most easily with the quickopt menu) and the game should advance to next week.
You can switch live games on again as soon as your team plays.... read more

These two new releases fix the infamous transfer list bug. Should a bug with the transfer list ever occur again, i'm going to kill this project. And format every partition that contains Bygfoot data. Or switch back to console programming and begin work on Bygfoot 0.5 again.

Bygfoot 1.4.0 team selection freeze

If you have a $HOME/.bygfoot directory created by a Bygfoot version <= 1.3, 1.4.0 will freeze after you choose a team. To correct this, you simply have to remove the .bygfoot directory (you can't use your savegames with the new version, anyway). See http://www.bygfoot.com for more information.

New version numbering

ygfoot is a small and simple football (a.k.a. soccer) manager game featuring some internat. leagues & cups. You manage a team from one such league: you form the team, buy & sell players, get promoted or relegated and of course try to be successful.

As of version 1.4.0 the version numbering is different. Until now, we had versions like 1.3 alpha, beta and final, but since these expressions imply code maturity rather than new features, and because new versions are released mostly because of new features, we'll have version numbers like X.Y.Z from now on. Each new version will have number X.Y.(Z + 1) if there were minor changes, X.(Y + 1).0 if there were greater changes or Z was 9, and (X + 1).0.0 if there were HUGE changes or X * Z was 81 (which is rather unlikely).

Unstable branch

I've created a new branch of Bygfoot called -- how unusual -- 'unstable'. Here are the notes for the first unstable file release:

This version is meant for those who already know Bygfoot and are
curious about the changes the new offical version will contain that
are already implemented.

Because of this intended audience I haven't included any installation
instructions; those who can't figure out how to install / use this
version please refer to one of the official releases.... read more
