(by browser, wget, or by hand using netcat)
'uncompress' fails with messages like
"uncompress: 0653-059 The input file contains bad data;
SIGSEGV signal received."
on AIX or
"insize:733 posbits:20 inbuf:9D 11 6F 68 47 (4)
uncompress: corrupt input"
on linux.
