Somehow I assigned a name to a CD I burned and the tracks that go with it. Now I can't undo it and everytime I burn a CD it titles the name and tracks. How do I undo this?
hello. is it possible for me to customize the DVD theme? i see in Settings where i can choose between 2 simple ones or turn it off. would very much like to either create my own or customize what's there. thanks.
My first two attempts to copy a music CD each started reading the CD and eventually failed with an "Authoring failed" error pop-up. Both CDs play fine in the Apple SuperDrive on my Mac mini. Are others successfully copying CDs on macOS Sonoma? -- Ward
When I installed Burn 3.1.6 on Sonoma 14.3, I discovered a copy of Burn 2.5.1 I'd installed in 2011. Accompanying the app is a Documentation folder containing Burn FAQ, Changelog, and ReadMe files. Since I could not find comparable files in this project, I tried Burn's Help menu, which offers Burn Help and Copy Help. However, selecting those actions simply opens a blank window. Is there documentation for Burn 3.1.6? -- Ward
Crash when burning a VCD
Uncaught Exception when working with a specific track
Burn stalls when enter "Settings"
This used to work, I could put a series of files in and move them around to change order. Now no matter what order I put them in, the program begins to move them to whatever position IT wants, Any clues? Thanks for your help. DH
Hello... Instead of burning to an actual CD/DVD is there a way to "burn" to a Mac disk image, .dmg, file? Thanks!
Burn 3.17 released
Added accessibitly workaround, use interger formatting and bumped version
Burn closes unexpectedly
Hello, As far as I can tell, Burn does not yet support burning a Blu-ray disc. Please consider adding this feature. Thank you!
Updated year and fixed CD-TEXT inspector issues
Burn 3.1.6 released
Hi, I was trying to add CDText to my tracks on my CD, using the Inspector panel, and I noticed ISRC numbers are supported, yeey! But this feature is not developed through, I think. When I add my five tracks to the Burn queue and try to give each its unique ISRC number, I can't seem to make it "stick" to the track: - I use the Inspector panel on Track 1 and enter its ISRC code and press tab so the code is evaluated. - I go to Track 2, but the ISRC code from Track 1 is already there. So I change it...

Hi Douglas, Burn used to have support for custom themes. I had to remove it, since it wasn't working correctly and the editor didn't work on a newer versions of Mac OS X. I did update the editor a while ago and shared it with someone, but then the communication stopped. I wanted to see if the application was usable enough (and get some feedback if needed) so I can update Burn to reintroduce theme support!! You can download the editor here: http://www.kiwifruitware.org/menuedit-beta.zip Regards, Maarten...
Using "BURN" & happy with it but is there a way to get slightly less austere chapter menus? There are only 2 I see, both as plain as can be. The function is fine but very boring. I suppose this has been asked before but it really wasn't 100% clear to this non tech geezer. Thank you
Not sure if I am on the right thread for my question, & not very tech savy, but......Is it possible to have slightly more interesting menu display other than the 2 rather plain ones I see. They work perfect but am hoping to have something with a little more panache. Thank you. DH, fumbling geezer
Hello, been a long time since I used BURN for DVDs. Is there a way to create more attractive selectable chapter menu art? The 2 choices I'm given are,..well deadly dull.
Ah, thanks for the update!! :)
Never mind - I found out I was making a mistake.....
Is the latest version 3.1.5? The zip file has that in the filename but when extracted I get the 3.1.4 version. Which is more π-like but may not be right.
As long as Burn recognises the drive (which should be the case for Superdrives) and the disc the inspector should be able to display information about the disc in it!
Can the Inspector be used to read the format of a disk in the Superdrive? That would be quite useful.
Yes, I'd like to know this, too. Which files do we need to edit to customize the DVD menu?
I had the best luck with DVDA Author by unchecking all the boxes in the Options menu and then using ImgBurn to make a ISO from the C:\Users\Your User Name\output\ folder

Burn 3.1.5 released
Unified file lists (data / video / audio) and improved deletion selection (needed for VoiceOver)
Thanks for your feedback, I restarted my MAC and the free space is back.
Burn uses the system chosen temporary folder (usually /tmp) to store the temporary files. These files are deleted automacily when the system requires the space or on a system (re)start.
What is the temporary folder used by Burn? I tried to create a DVD, got an error and now I have 5GB less space in my HD. I need to cleanup the remaining temporary files. I am using Burn 3.1.4 Best Regards
Been trying to burn playlists on my 2018 mac (no disc drive) with a pioneer cd/dvd writer. In the past (on my old mac) cds burnt from itunes played fine, but now none will play after a long time with Apple support they recommeded a 3rd party software to burn them. Just tried yours and same problem discs will play on DVD player but not CD player!!! Please help
Yeah, I got it.
I think that the software product that would work best for this is the free / open source utility "Etcher." Be careful where you download from, however.
I use this feature frequently: I burn an audio session first, then a data session. The key to achieving this is in the dialog box that comes up when you push the Burn button: click the check box for "Allow more sessions." This allows me to create a with an attached second volume for album art and MP3 files.
You've probably already figured this out, but that is what the "Copy" tab of the interface is for: just drag and drop your ISO image file onto the window after selecting copy, and you should be ready for burning.
I found a feature request from about 2011 for compressing large video to fit on 4.7GB disc. Is this possible? https://sourceforge.net/p/burn-osx/feature-requests/72/#586c
Hi, I am not very tech-savvy but I want to burn some video DVDs for my grandson. I have a MacBook Pro (OSX 10.15 Catalina) with a removable DVD drive. I have done a test using Burn and it does burn some videos onto a DVD. But the title page is just black. It says the name of the DVD, then 'Start' and 'Titles' and has 'Kiwi DVD' in the corner. I can't find any instructions but is it possible to change how this looks? I've designed a nice graphic for the front menu page, and would like to change the...
I see this post is from years ago but it seems there is now something in Burn that prompts you to convert the files to mpg.
Hi, I can see you are still updating Burn. Thank you. I am not very tech-savvy but I want to burn some video DVDs for my grandson. As the topic title says, I'm on Mac, I have an ISO I need burned to a DVD, how do I go about doing that? Thanks in advance!
QuickTime is part of macOS, so it should be installed on every Mac. Most burner applications would probably always encode the audio when burning a disc. Burn tries to only do that when needed. So it might misidentify certain wave files. So I was curious what causes the wave files not to work. In order to fix or investigate the problem I need to either now the exact specifications of the wave files or have a sample wave file that has the steady tone issue. This way I can recreate the problem! :)
I don't know if he has Quick Time (I don't use it), but the files are normal 44.1 - 16 wave files. He tried another burning program and successfully created the disc. We still don't know why Burn (different from the Burrrn program, btw) created tracks with nothing but a steady tone.
Burn normally converts files to the correct format. Only when files seem to be the right format it will burn them directly to a disc. My guess is that Burn tries to do that with wrongly identified files. But I can't be sure without more information. It might help to know the QuickTime player information about the wave files (command-I in QuickTime).
My friend is trying to burn a CD on his Macbook pro using the Burn program and an Apple Superdrive. He is not ripping an existing CD, but rather using wave files that are in a folder on his desktop. He is able to drag the files into the Burn program and everything looks OK. However, once the CD is created and played on the Mac, on a CD player or an a DVD player there is no music. Each track is just a steady high pitched tone - I would guess around 10k hz. Counters on the players tick off the seconds...
Add vn also for DVD-Audio, use media types for Audio-CD discs and bumped version
Burn 3.1.4 released
I was able to reproduce the problem. Burn crashes when trying to get the default region (used for video conversion). I've released Burn 3.1.3 which should fix the problem!! :)
