Hi there I am living in Denmark, and we have outrageously long holidays - has just arrived on work today for the first time in 4 weeks... ;-) Tashi, go ahead, commit, and if you (or anyone else) would like to become owner of the project, please let me know what to do to make it happen: I did this work originally for the company I work for, but we no longer use C# to interface to Bugzilla. It might be better to move it to github - easier to fork? Kind regards Mads Søndag 21 juli 2013 19:54:46 skrev Sébastien Santoro: > Hello, > > Go ahead. > > We're at least two to still use Bugzproxy and so to add features is a > good thing. > > Mads will probably be able to commit your patch / release a new > version later, and if he would appear he's currently busy these weeks, > you will meanwhile be able to setup a public code repository > somewhere, to use until he's come back. > > Thank you for your interest for Bugzproxy. > > On Mon, Jul 8, 2013 at 8:52 PM, Tsahi Asher <t_...@ne...> wrote: > > Hi, > > A few days ago I wrote to Mads Bondo Dydensborg directly about contributing > > code to Bugzproxy, but haven't got a reply yet. > > I contributed code to Bugzproxy a few years ago. hi, Last time i wrote code for Bugzproxy, I had write access to Bugzproxy's SVN. You can see my commits in the logs. Today I'm 5 years more experienced with software engineering, being an active software developer as a living. Would that be OK if I commit directly to Bugzproxy's trunk, after I'm satisfied my code works? Hello, Go ahead. We're at least two to still use Bugzproxy and so to add features is a good thing. Mads will probably be able to commit your patch / release a new version later, and if he would appear he's currently busy these weeks, you will meanwhile be able to setup a public code repository somewhere, to use until he's come back. Thank you for your interest for Bugzproxy. Hi,
A few days ago I wrote to Mads Bondo Dydensborg directly about
contributing code to Bugzproxy, but haven't got a reply yet.
I contributed code to Bugzproxy a few years ago.I recently started experimenting with a new open source project (or it will be if I publish it), which communicates with Bugzilla, and needs to call the Bug.searchweb-service, which was added in Bugzilla 3.4. Since it's not yet implemented in Bugzproxy, I thought to add support for it. What do you think?
It will probably go in the Server class, together with the other bug-retrieval methods there.
Tsahi

Hello, What you've installed are libraries. You now need to write a piece of software using these libraries. You'll find the Bugzproxy documentation at http://oss.dbc.dk/bugzproxy/html/index.html First, you need to create an instance of the the Server object: http://oss.dbc.dk/bugzproxy/html/classBugzproxy_1_1Server.html Then, you need to read Excel and send bugs to the server: http://oss.dbc.dk/bugzproxy/html/classBugzproxy_1_1Bug.html To read your Excel files, some people like the Open XML SDK 2.0 for Microsoft Office. I like http://epplus.codeplex.com/ - you'll find a sample in this blog post: http://codealoc.wordpress.com/2012/04/19/reading-an-excel-xlsx-file-from-c/ -- Best Regards, Sébastien Santoro aka Dereckson On Fri, Apr 26, 2013 at 12:07 PM, kathir vel <kat...@ya...>wrote: > Hi Team - I have installed Bugzilla in my machine and want to move all the > bugs in the excel sheet to Bugzilla.I got some info that using Bugzproxy we > can do bulk upload of defects into Bugzilla from an excel file. > > Hence I have downloaded Bugzproxy and xml-rpc.net.2.1.0 but I am not aware > how to install these two to work with Bugzilla.Need your help here. Please > let me know how to install Bugxproxy and xml-rpc.net.2.1.0 and connect with > Bugzilla which will help me to complete the installation and upload all the > defects in the excel file to Bugzilla. > > Thanks a lot for your help and support. > > Thanks & Regards, > > Kathir > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Try New Relic Now & We'll Send You this Cool Shirt > New Relic is the only SaaS-based application performance monitoring service > that delivers powerful full stack analytics. fredag 24 Oktober 2008 skrev Dariusz Dobosz: > When I analyzed text of response for Bug.get_bugs, there were many > useful information, but I can't find any about Comments. > Is it possible to get it? Bugzproxy only supports the functionality exposed by the Bugzilla webservice, which is only very slowly evolving. I am unsure about the current status of the bugzilla webservice, as I do not follow it closely at the moment. However, I think it might be possibly on tip: http://www.bugzilla.org/docs/tip/en/html/api/Bugzilla/WebService/Bug.html . This page suggests that a method called get_history is present in the bleeding edge bugzillas. I would presume that this includes information about the comments. So, if you have access to a very recent bugzilla implementation, it should be possibly to easily extend bugzproxy to support get_history, and perhaps wrap it in some convenience calls, such as "get comment". (Of course, development can always be done against Bugzillas tip server, but if you actually want to benefit from it, your own Bugzilla installation needs to be very recent). If you do have access to a recent installation, you may be able to persuade me to implement support for the current get_history method in bugzilla tip, if you promise to test it on your own system. Because I do not have access to a recent/tip installation of Bugzilla. mandag 13 Oktober 2008 skrev Steve Borg: Hi Steve Sorry for the delay - has had some days of. No, I have not come across this problem. Did you use the trace facility to test the XML returned by bugzilla? Basically you should put something like: server.TraceWriter = System.Console.Out; somewhere in your code, and the XML passing between bugzproxy and Bugzilla should be dumped, so you can check if Bugzilla passes the right thing to bugzproxy or not. (You should be able to put another stream in there, if you want the log somewhere else). I am not very familiar with the Bugzilla custom field, but you have made me wonder: If you have set it up as an integer datatype, there is no way to distingues between 0.2 and 0.20 - but you probably have not? That is understandable. It is probably the number one missing feature in the bugzilla WebService API - but _lots_ are missing. You can check the "Webservice" component in the mozilla bug base. There is a bug for a "simple search": https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=398281 If you read it, you get an impression of the speed with which bugzilla moves.. :-/ It does however move. You can pester them on that bug if you think it is what you need - and when the interface is ready, it should be a small job to add the gluecode to bugzproxy. > > At this time, we just create new bug-entries as they happen regardless of duplicity. > > This will do for some time. I hope the missing functionality will be available soon. Me too - see the bugzilla bug. Unfortunately, my company does not sponsor me to do bugzilla patches at the moment. It did initially, but focus has changed here. Thank you for your statements. Screen-scraping is not the way of choice, I guess! :) Wouldn't do it either. We're currently using bugzproxy for automated bug-sending in one of our products and we would like it to look up if the bug already existed prior to creating a new one. At this time, we just create new bug-entries as they happen regardless of duplicity. This will do for some time. I hope the missing functionality will be available soon. There is a new release up at sourceforge (identical to svn rev 48). Compared to release 0.1.0, at least the following has changed: Supports the AppendComment call in very recent versions of Bugzilla, thanks to Tsahi Asher. The API, mostly the namespace, has changed for this version, and applications build against the earlier release will probably not compile with this. The API should follow .net conventions a bit closer now, and most changes are of the "search/replace" kind - there should be no major changes. Samples now use a common set of options. All sample programs now use the Bugzilla landfill server, using a default account. Now has VS 2005 build support, and a new LoggedIn property. The Linux/Mono compilation now use xbuild on the csproj file. Bugzproxy now supports SSL, provided by JP Rosevear. Hi all This is a just a short message to let you know that Bugzproxy has been migrated to SVN from CVS. Also, Tashi Asher is preparing a number of patches that will clean up the API somewhat, and add support for an approved version of the AppendComment in Bugzilla. The patches from Tashi Asher will break the API. Mostly because the namespace will be changed from Bugzilla to Bugzproxy. Some other minor stuff will break too, but all in all, the changes should be an improvement to Bugzproxy. Actually, given your layout it probably is a better idea to move them there. > In any case, I have already applied the patch, and committed to cvs. The patch > did not apply cleanly, because there has been some changes to support > bugzilla installations that are not at the root of the server, but I think > everything is as it should be now, but if you check out from cvs, you may > find that the server constructors have an argument more than they used too - > I hope not, though. Ok, I diffed against 0.1.0 not the trunk so thats probably the issue. -JP -- JP Rosevear <jp...@no...> Novell, Inc. |

Thanks. Seems good. I am a bit confused about the PreAuthenticate and Credentials code - what are they for? (Just so I know why I am patching, and I would like to add some docs for it. :-) Also, should they not be made accessible from the IServer interface, or is that not needed? In any case, I have already applied the patch, and committed to cvs. The patch did not apply cleanly, because there has been some changes to support bugzilla installations that are not at the root of the server, but I think everything is as it should be now, but if you check out from cvs, you may find that the server constructors have an argument more than they used too - I hope not, though. That would be great. The project has been dormant for a while: We have been waiting for the stable release of bugzilla 3.0 - and then the upgrade of our internal servers. This in turn, has postponed the project that bugzproxy was written for: doing a visual studio bugzilla plugin for the benefit of our windows developers. We are slowly starting this now, but the summer is getting nearer, so progress is slow. At the same time , Meanwhile, Sebastien Santoro has made an Open Source BugCreate wizard, that utilizes bugzproxy, which is available at http://www.dereckson.be/Blog/index.php/2007/06/28/60-bugzilla-add-bug-wizard In relation to this, some minor changes has happened to CVS in the last couple of days, mostly to fix building on Windows, and support a LoggedIn property on the Server class. The homepage was actually updated earlier today to reflect this. Sebastien is currently tracking some issues with the code - I am waiting for his final discoveries before I would make a new release. I would be very happy to accept your patches, and any advice/comments you might have on the code. Please note: I have taken the liberty to CC this message to the projects mailing list at sourceforge. I hope this is OK.
