Tomorrow, we're releasing BUGS 2 beta 3 - codenamed "Corundum". In addition to
making sure that everything we promised for this release is available, we've
also been hard at work trying to fix a bunch of issues reported since our
previous beta release - "Blue Topaz" - and we have succeeded far beyond our
So, what can you expect from this release? Here are the highlights:
* All modules are now feature complete
* Translation support is done, and both the B2 core and all modules have been
translated (see the i18n/ folder for translations)
* Calendar module is included
* SVN Integration module is included
* Search speed has been dramatically improved
* The BUGS 2 core has been improved in several key areas, seeing speed
improvements all over
* Most pages validate (http://validator.w3.org/)
* 23 reported issues fixed since beta 2, as well as several unreported issues
That's impressive - but there is more coming! We have one more beta version to
release before we're issuing our first Release Candidate. What's coming in the
next beta version?
Since the upgrade functionality from BUGS 1 is one of the most important areas
for many of you, we will focus heavily on upgrading from BUGS 1 in our next
beta release. This release will also see the completion of the command line
client, which makes it possible to both install BUGS 2 and perform basic tasks
from the command line. This should make managing BUGS 2 installations much
easier for server admins.
If you are currently using BUGS 1, and want to make sure that it is possible
to upgrade to BUGS 2, please send me an email if you want to be a part of the
