BT Auto Locker GUI

πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» How it Works

BT Auto Locker continuously monitors the signal strength of your Bluetooth device. When the signal drops below a set threshold, indicating your device is out of range, it automatically locks your computer to protect your data. This process runs silently in the background, ensuring your system stays secure whenever you step away.

πŸ“¦ Installation

1. Download

πŸ‘‰ Visit the Releases Page πŸ‘ˆ
Download the latest .exe file to install BT Auto Locker.

2. Run the App

βœ… No installation wizard required
πŸš€ Start monitoring immediately after launch

πŸ“‘ How to Start Monitoring a Device

1. Launch BT Auto Locker
Open the application to access the main interface.

2. Prepare Your Device
Place the Bluetooth device you want to monitor next to your computer or laptop to ensure it registers a strong signal during the scan.

3. Scan for Bluetooth Devices
Click the Scan Devices button to initiate a scan for nearby Bluetooth devices.

4. Select the Device to Monitor
From the list of discovered devices, select the device you wish to monitor. Devices with the strongest signal will appear at the top.

5. Manage Known Devices (Optional)
To save frequently used devices, add the selected device to the known devices list by clicking Add Selected to Known Devices.
You can rename any known device for easier identification by selecting it in the Known Devices list and clicking Rename Selected Known Device.

6. Start Monitoring
Click Start Monitoring to begin monitoring the signal strength and proximity of the selected device.

7. Stop Monitoring
When monitoring is no longer required, click Stop Monitoring to halt device scanning and monitoring activities.

πŸ”§ Adjusting Signal Strength Threshold (RSSI)

BT Auto Locker uses the Bluetooth signal strength of your trusted device to determine when to automatically lock your computer.
This signal strength is measured using RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator), a value that reflects how close your device is.

βœ… Stronger signal (e.g., -50) means the device is nearby
❌ Weaker signal (e.g., -80) means the device is farther away

You can configure the RSSI threshold in the app settings:
When the signal drops below the selected threshold (i.e., becomes weaker), the app will lock your computer.
When the signal remains above the threshold (i.e., stays strong), the system remains unlocked.

πŸ’‘ Configuration Tips

RSSI ThresholdBehavior
-60Locks the PC when the device is just a few feet away (more sensitive).
-85Locks only when the device is much farther away (less sensitive).

⚠️ Signal strength can vary depending on your hardware, physical barriers (like walls), and Bluetooth interference.
It’s recommended to experiment with different threshold values to find the most reliable setting for your environment.
