Babya Firestorm review

PC Utilities has done a review of the popular Babya Firestorm:

Babya Firestorm is a fascinating graphics tool, capable of generating images based on a few user-defined settings. Whilst webGobbler takes a largely random approach to image generation, Firestorm is designed to create particle effects that have a distinctly volcanic look to them.

The first thing you need to do is select one of the options from the Palettes drop-down menu - Fire is the most realistic of these, but it's worth toying around with the various options. It's also possible to create your own palettes, though this is a rather fiddly process. With a Palette selected, you can toy around with the sliders on the right to adjust the strength, shape and intensity of the particle effect.

When you're happy with the settings, you can output the animated particle effect as a series of .bmp images, which could be used individually or assembled into an animation. With a little imagination, you could use Firestorm to create backdrops for green screen/chromakey video footage or animated .gifs for your website.
