Working with the STABLE branch or a previous source tarball is recommended if you run into compilation errors that you cannot resolve. Additionally, if you are working with SVN trunk sources and encounter issues, those should probably be reported to either the brlcad-devel mailing list or the IRC channel instead of the bug tracker since they're interactive forums and have less overhead to respond to what are otherwise just on-going development activity.
