BRL-CAD installed on 1st-gen Macbook, 2.0 GHz Core duo; X11 installed.  Launching mged gives the following output:

Initializing and backgrounding, please wait...X Error of failed request:  BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)

  Minor opcode of failed request:  1 ()
  Serial number of failed request:  34

Moving from support request tracker to the bug report tracker.

I'm unable to reproduce this on 10.4 -- what version of BRL-CAD is being
used?  If you really were using 7.6, then you have to upgrade as that is
really ancient.  Please recheck your version (run /usr/brlcad/bin/binfo if
you don't know).   If you compiled from source, try adding the
--without-opengl flag to configure.
