Category: Compilation & Installation Group: release 7.12 Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: rmbradburn (rmbradburn) Assigned to: Sean Morrison (brlcad) Summary: Installation - Mac Initial Comment: I ran the installation on my Macbook Pro (OsX w/ X11 installed). Installation reports that it completes successfully, but afterwards I can't find any evidence of the program. Haven't been able to try it out because it isn't listed in the Applications folder (or anywhere that I can find). Is there something I'm missing? Thanks! --Ryan ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: rmbradburn (rmbradburn) Date: 2008-05-13 20:13 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=2083161 Originator: YES Nope...last gen MacBook Pro: 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I do have the dual boot w/ WinXP, but was hoping to run it on the Mac side. --R ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Sean Morrison (brlcad) Date: 2008-05-13 12:24 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=785737 Originator: NO Ah, sounds like you're on a PowerPC Mac? The installer wasn't a Universal so it should only work on Intel-based Macs. There's a bug in the X11/Rosetta layer that prevents the automatic translation from working. You should be able to grab the PPC release for 7.10.4 from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=105292&package_id=113557 and that "should" work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: rmbradburn (rmbradburn) Date: 2008-05-13 02:36 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=2083161 Originator: YES haha..right, yes...brlcad. wow...thank you. I look forward to working with the suite. However, something is still awry. I typed exactly: /usr/bricad/bin/mged Respose was: bash: /usr/bricad/bin/mged: No such file or directory Any further advice? Thanks. --R ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Sean Morrison (brlcad) Date: 2008-05-10 11:25 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=785737 Originator: NO Run X11 and in the white xterm window that opens up, type this exactly: /usr/brlcad/bin/mged BRL-CAD fully installs into /usr/brlcad due to its UNIX heritage and is a suite of more than 400 tools and utilities, not a single "app" that you might find in the Applications folder. We may wrap up services in a terminal down the road, but you presently have to run the tools directly on the command line. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=640803&aid=1961093&group_id=105292 |
