Hey Guys, i spent the day trying to get brlcad working on my mac, - as i already read it's known that the released dmg doesn't work (http://old.nabble.com/Running-BRL-CAD-on-MAC-snow-leopard-td25895285.html), I checked out the STABLE branch, built it on my own (which fails usually because version problems of /usr/local/lib/libz.dylib - the linker says the installed version is built for ppc, and he won't link that against the x86_64 build (cp -rf /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.6.sdk/usr/lib/libz.dylib /usr/local/lib copies a working version into the lib folder if xcode is installed)) - good so far, - I managed it to get it completely compiled and installed, but when trying to launch mged it fails with a segfault! I'm running Mac OSX 10.6.7, all current updates installed, XQuartz 2.3.6 (xorg-server 1.4.2-apple56), and have no idea what to do next. Any help would be much appreciated. best regards, ricardo P.S.: i attached the OSX crashlog to this mail, - maybe it helps. |

Ricardo, The problem is one that was just mentioned a couple days ago on the list, but fortunately should have a very easy fix. If you used the autotools build instructions, add --without-ogl to your configure flags and the problem should be avoided. Cheers! Hey Sean, thank you very much for this advice, - but I still didn't get it working, - I downloaded the tarball marked as stable which is version 7.20.0, - ran the autogen.sh script, - ran ./configure --without-ogl, - after that make, make install and so on, and it still crashes, - does the configure-script set the compile-flags correctly usually, - or did i just expect it to while it doesn't? could you suggest me another way to set this flag, - or maybe tell me the hint where I get the information if it was set correctly from? thank you very much, - best regards, ricardo On Jun 5, 2011, at 4:40 PM, Christopher Sean Morrison wrote: > Ricardo, > > The problem is one that was just mentioned a couple days ago on the list, but fortunately should have a very easy fix. Yes, it usually does but I misread your crash log. It the same issue as was mentioned a couple days ago with an incompatibility with libraries you have in /opt from ports and your system X11 libraries. Try adding --enable-all in addition to --without-ogl and it might avoid the linkage. Cheers! Sean |
