My name is Parita Pooj and I'm interesting in the Project - Add exec
option to search.
Hello Parita! Welcome and thanks for introducing yourself. Other GSoC candidates that have recently joined are strongly encouraged to do the same! The sooner the better..
I am a Second year Engineering Student and a fair bit of acquaintance
with python scripting and C++. This is my first attempt at GSoC. I
have previously done projects like web scraping, keyboard interfacing,
etc. I have been using github for version control for my projects.
Excellent. Hopefully you have a little bit of experience with procedural programming as well given the search -exec project idea is for LIBGED, which is a pure C API. If your'e more inclined to work on an object-oriented effort, let us know as there are numerous worth considering (such as STEP exporter or a STEP viewer).
I have started looking up the files mentioned in the references
section to better understand how the search option works. Could you
point me out to where I could understand the command tables work?
One of the command tables is listed in the references section, src/mged/setup.c, with another in src/libtclcad/tclcad_obj.c
They're as good a starting place as any, particularly the mged table.
