At the moment, we don't have one. I would suggest saving as either IGES or STL and using the corresponding importer in BRL-CAD.

When you say the solidworks format, which of the major 'native' file formats are you actually referring to? Their .sldprt, .sldasm, .sldlfp, and .slddrw files? The ACIS .sat/.sab files? The Parasolid .x_t, .x_b, and .xmt_txt files?

All but the .sat file format are not likely to be directly supported any time soon simply because they are closed proprietary file formats. You generally have to pay a license and link against their closed geometry kernel in order to support those file formats, not something we're likely to do as an open source project. The .sat file format is feasible simply because there is a good deal of information derivable from that ASCII file format that import becomes reasonable (we in fact already have a .sat exporter, albeit indirectly through Cubit).

Our current development efforts, however, are towards improving our IGES converters and development of a new STEP importer/exporter (AP203/AP214). STEP in particular is a major undertaking and taking a lot of time and resources, but is a reasonably robust and well-supported format in the CAD industry.

    Cheers!
    Sean
