I'm trying to compile version 7.16.8 from source code on Mac OS X 10.6.4

sh autogen.sh
./configure
make
make install

Have no error messages at all, but when I'm trying to run mged, it shows "Segmentation fault" message and Mac OS X Problem Report window pops up with report for Apple. Here is the beginning of the report:

If you review the report details, it should show the full crash log (which is also sitting in your ~/Library/Logs folder). Please add the full log as an attachment.

Added report file. Hopefully it will help.

By the way, same thing happens when I'm trying to run archer, but this time crashed process is bwish. Should I also upload bwish crash report?

It is possible to run mged with -c option, it fails when I'm trying to attach X display manager:

    c-24-245-1-22:~ vladkupcov$ /usr/brlcad/bin/mged -c
BRL-CAD Release 7.16.8 Geometry Editor (MGED)
    Wed, 07 Jul 2010 09:59:27 -0500, Compilation 2
    vladkupcov@c-24-245-1-22.hsd1.mn.comcast.net:/usr/brlcad

    attach (nu|X|tk)[nu]? X
    Starting an X display manager
    Segmentation fault
    c-24-245-1-22:~ vladkupcov$

Thanks for the crash log. Feel free to attach the bwish one as well. It may help verify whether they're related or just coincidence.

    Added bwish crash log.

I played with mged for a little while and found out that I still can create geometry and raytrace it without GUI. But it's just make me feel like I'm in mid 1970's.

I generated a nearly identical crash log with the latest build (version 7.16.10) on a Mac running 10.6.4 as well.

The problem is that it's attempting to use the system-installed Tk from Apple which has a conflicting initialization. You can work around this problem by passing flags to configure that disable usage of system Tcl/Tk.

    ./configure --enable-all
    make clean
    make
    make install

That should give you a clean working install.
