No

There were three crashes:
2 from Terminal.app after the following sequence:

mged
MGED unable to initialize gui, reverting to classic mode.
attach (nu|X|ogl)[nu]? X

2 from X11.app after the following sequence:

mged

All resulted in Bus error in the terminal windows with a crash report. I ran two each to verify repeatability.
I will attach the terminal crash report here.

The crash count should be for. I did the fourth to verify the entry sequence in Terminal.app.

For the record, this is a build from the latest svn source. Not a binary download.

That's a known issue with running an opengl-enabled compilation. If you leave it off, MGED should work just fine.

I reconfigured without OpenGL (will upload config.log), then built and installed using the new configuration. Still got bus error (will upload the crash report) using X11.app. The brl-cad is version 7.16.3.

Did another attempt with optimization turn off as well. Still crashed with a bus error. Attaching logs.

Just wanted to give an update that this problem is being worked on. There's apparently some X11 initialization instability.

If I can provide any assistance, let me know.

If you can write code, that would be of great assistance. ;-)

Still no change in progress, but hopefully by 7.16.10+ the problem will be addressed.

I mostly work with C and Assembler in real time system environments and am toying with Java and Objective-C.

Sounds like you have the perfect skills, then, to help isolate the cause of this problem. ;) If you happen to attempt any debugging, please do report your findings. Otherwise, we'll keep this report open until we have a solution in place.

Right now, development efforts have been going towards the implementation of a more pure cross-platform display interface that will provide native behavior on Mac OS X. No ETA when that will be ready though. Thanks for your patience.
