On using the -n option (as suggested by iges-g), iges-g will crash during conversion (the initial phase, detecting all objects, succeeds)
On using the -t option, iges-g also crashes, but this time an error message appears, saying that a curve was not closed.

This is unfortunate but not unexpected. There are a variety of generalized spline-surface imports that can be represented with IGES that our iges-g cannot understand (particularly when they're not solid geometry).

Work is underway now on a new step-g importer that will be a recommended path through STEP instead of via IGES import. As that converter comes on-line, we can then focus on updating older tools (including iges-g) to use the new NURBS boundary representation primitive that is in development now (and nearing completion).

Wim, if you have a stack trace of the crash or if you can provide simple sample geometry that causes iges-g to crash, it would be pretty helpful. If not, we'll have to mark this as an issue to try and improve later.

    Sample geometry?
