I have a BRL file that I converted from a IGES original using iges-g with the -t option.

When I run the nmg_collapse I get this error:

ERROR: bad pointer xa79ae70: s/b face_g_plane(x726b6e65), was face_g_snurb(x736e7262), file nmg_tri.c, line 453

nmg_simplify gives:

ERROR: bad pointer x97e1ea8: s/b face_g_plane(x726b6e65), was face_g_snurb(x736e7262), file nmg_mod.c, line 138

I had similar errors using versions 7.12.2, 7.10.4, and also the 7.8.4 debian package.

This is a known problem with the nurbs options on the iges converter. That's an experimental code path that was frankly never taken to completion. We're currently working on a new brep implementation that should help fix this problem, but it's a huge development effort that is going to take a while to complete.

The nmg_collapse and nmg_simplify commands were developed for use with nmg objects that have only planar faces. I have modified the two commands so that they check their input NMG primitive and refuse to operate on an NMG with non-planar faces.
