Would it be possible to export the model to either dxf or 3ds? It is proving difficult to successfully convert the ldr file to use in apllications like Blender on MacOSX.
You can open a model created in Bricksmith with LDView (http://ldview.sourceforge.net/), and export it to 3DS from LDView.
