lnpd+liblnp with brickOS-0.2.6.10

I have no communication between the PC and the RCX using brickOS-0.2.6.10. Another user posted a similar message at lugnet, but only got a non-relevant reply about Cygwin and a USB tower.
I'm using linux and a serial tower. I have two RCX's and they communicate with each other fine. I wrote a sender and a reciever app for the RCX and put one in each rcx.
They send and recieve the messages.
Now I put the SAME code (essentially) in a PC app using liblnp and run lnpd, the IR tower LED lights up, the logging at lnpd indicates that its sending data, but nothing gets into the RCX. Same if I try to send data from the RCX to the PC, except then I don't even get log messages.
Is there some inherent problem with brickOS-0.2.6.10?
Is there going to be any new releases of lnp package?
Is there anyone still working on it?
Does anyone else have trouble?

oops I posted this on the wrong project, I thought this was the liblnp site (if there is one) and now realize this is the brick remote which only USES liblnp.
Still if anyone reads this and has any ideas I would appreciate any help. I would post on lugnet, but they haven't processed my application for membership...
