The patches I generate are against the stock kernels from kernel.org.
Vendors like SuSE and Red Hat apply literally hundreds of patches to
their kernels.  My patches never apply cleanly after that.  I
recommend just using a kernel.org kernel.  Otherwise it's up to you to
resolve the conflicts.
