I do this with no problems out of the box.  It looks to me like your 
packets are being eaten along the way.  I surmise from the IP shown you 
are trying to access something other than the master node, so how does the 
packets get from the slave node to the remote node?  I have it using a 
second ethernet card on each slave to access the storage network, but you 
have to configure that explicitly.  Otherwise you have to set up the 
master node for maquarading.
