Hello, I should preface the following with a note that this is based on the Scyld product with uses bproc 2.2.x and the 2.2 kernel, but beoboot can be easily modified to work with bproc 3.x and the 2.4 kernel. Additionally, Erik has mentioned that he has a new version that he will be releasing in the future. The comments below are based on the older version, as I have not seen the new version. No, bpmaster cannot do DHCP or RARP, however the beoserv program that is part of beoboot can respond to RARP requests. It also uses the /etc/beowulf/config file as its config file, so the entries for ignore are for beoserv. > - can bpmaster directly return a kernel image, so I do not need tftp ? Beoserv and two kernel monte, linuxbios, or kexec can replace tftp. The bootfile and bootport entries are for beoserv and monte, but it could be modified to work with LinuxBIOS or kexec. > > Thanks. I hope to release an updated version of beoboot that can work with bproc 3.x in the near future. This is only a hold over until the new version is available, and still uses the old ELF linker code. Thanks. Peter |

Hi. I have been reading the nre docs from Sept 26, but I have not found any reference to this part of the demo config file: # Ignored nodes # Don't respond to these boxes RARP requests #ignore 00:C0:CA:10:94:14 # # Beowulf Boot File # bootport 1556 bootfile /home/hendriks/beoboot/boot.img So: - can bpmaster directly do MAC-IP answers, so I can get rid of dhcp ? - can bpmaster directly return a kernel image, so I do not need tftp ? Thanks. -- J.A. Magallon # Let the source be with you... mailto:jam...@ab... Mandrake Linux release 8.2 (Cooker) for i586 Linux werewolf 2.4.10-ac8-beo #1 SMP Mon Oct 8 00:44:37 CEST 2001 i686 |
