#2 Auto Formatting with new lines

We pull our xml messages off of a Messaging queue and there is no formatting applied and when you look at it in notepad, it is on one continuous line. It is the same with your XML Editor Kit. Some kits have the new line feature built in because they use the StyledEditorKit, but their ease of use, functionality and overall feel is lacking compared to your project. If this functionality is in your project, then I apologize if I missed it. You have done a great job!
