I have a problem that I can't resolve it: when I install Boomerang and I would like to use it I click sur Boomerang then a console appear and it is automatically closed. please if someone have an idea how I can use this?
It sounds like you have built or downloaded the command-line version. (That's all there is for Linux). Either start it from a command line and give it parameters like a file name to decompile, or build or download the GUI version.
can you tell me more details : how I can start it from a command line ?
and when I clik on Boomerang-gui this error appear "Impossible de démarrer le programme car il manque MSVCP71.dll sur votre ordinateur. Essayez de réinstaller le programme pour corriger ce problème."
If you don't know how to start an application from a command line, it's possible you're not ready to use a machine code decompiler.
However, from your error message, it sounds like you are using the GUI version and Windows, and don't have an ancient enough machine. So you just need to go to https://sourceforge.net/projects/boomerang/files/ and download MSVCP71.dll. Put it in the same directory as boomerang_gui.exe, or in your Windows/system32 directory.
Why you don't tell me how I can start an application from a command line?
and concerning the download of MSVCP71 and I put them in the same directory as boomerang_gui. exe but the same error last.
I assume you're running Windows 7. It's possible that msvcp71.dll just doesn't work with Windows 7. I'm still running Windows XP. I just tried it and it works for me (having disabled the one in my WINDOWS/system32 directory).
Can any Windows 7 users comment on whether or not boomerang_gui.exe with msvcp71.dll in the same directory works?
please can you tell me how I can start an application from a command line?
I don't have Windows 7 here, so this is running blind. Use Windows-R (the left Windows key and R at the same time) and type "cmd" (without the quotes) then enter. If this doesn't start the command line, find it in the menu, or use a search engine to find out how. Change directory to where you downloaded the file. You may have to quote any spaces in the path. For me, the command was
but your paths will almost certainly be different. At the command prompt, type "boomerang-gui" (without the quotes) and enter. The application should start up, a little like this screenshot: https://sourceforge.net/projects/boomerang/screenshots/80930 (but paler, and no file names yet).
