Is there a reason that the browser k-meleon (very similar to firefox based on the same engine) is not in the list of supported/choosable browsers? I use k-meleon very much because of its speed and smallness and there are quite a few people using it. It should be easy to integrate it. Also I did not see chrome either in the list which too is very popular. romy |

Will bookmark bridge support HTML bookmark file import and Chrome integration (or does it already do so?) Best regards, Nikhil |

Hi; I'm trying to merge some firefox and mozilla bookmarks. I can get bookmarkbridge to add the files okay, and when I "view" them, they will be there, then I do "merge" into my new Firefox 2.0.0.1 bookmarks, and when I "view" again, it looks all merged, but then when I look at my bookmarks in Firefox, nothing has changed. I've tried it with Firefox running and not running. Also, after trying to merge, quite often bookmarkbridge suddenly can't open the files for viewing anymore, or merging. I should say that I'm running the latest debian etch, and so should have also the latest bookmarkbridge which is version 0.76-2 -- Harmon Seaver |

Alejandra, The current version of BookmarkBridge was released while FireFox was still known as Firebird. At that time FireFox stored its bookmarks in a different folder so BookmarkBridge isn't looking in the right place for current versions of FireFox. BookmarkBridge will work just fine with FireFox once you tell it where to look. Follow the steps on http://www.bookmarkbridge.org/fax.html under the question " BookmarkBridge didn't detect a browser on my system. How do I manually add it?" Hi, I'm the author and maintainer of BookmarkBridge. I'm conducting an informal survey of how people use BookmarkBridge and their expectations of it. Your responses will help future development. When I first designed BookmarkBridge I envisioned a product that would be installed on a single system and would merge and synchronize bookmarks between all the browsers on the system. The user would run it from time to time to copy bookmarks between browsers. Many users just want to use it as a temporary tool to migrate their bookmarks from one browser to another. Other users want to use it as a way to share bookmarks between browsers on different computers. Others, like me, run it periodically with all browsers as both sources and destinations of bookmarks, thus copying bookmarks between all the browsers simultaneously. Others re-arrange browsers as sources and destinations, copying and/or merging between browsers on demand. Unfortunately, BookmarkBridge wasn't originally designed to handle all of the above situations in the best possible way. Please tell me the ways in which you use BookmarkBridge. If you don't currently use it, or haven't used it in a long time, or even just used it once and threw it away, that's okay. I'm just looking to get a feel for what users are expecting out of BookmarkBridge. Thanks for your time. You can reply publically or privately. My email is kschenke at users dot sourceforge dot net. Thanks! |

Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

I ended up getting it to work by deleting all bookmarks in Mozilla and then telling it to merge again.Weird. _____ From: Jason Bilbrey [mailto:Jason@Bilbrey.Com] Sent: Wednesday, January 07, 2004 7:44 AM To: 'boo...@li...' It detected both browsers and said that it synched both ways, but only IE received all the bookmarks. Mozilla didn't get any from IE. Is this a known problem? Jason |

John, Sorry about that. I had something configured wrong in the installer. I have fixed it and reposted an updated installer to BookmarkBridge's web site. Konqueror will be very easy since it uses an XML file to store its bookmarks that is nearly identical to the one BookmarkBridge itself uses to store its database of the bookmarks. As for Galeon, I'll see what I can do. BookmarkBridge was designed to be easily extended to support additional browsers. -- Ken Schenke ksc...@us... |
