[Bookbase-help] Bookbase as a semi-library?

Hey,

I'm trying to find a solution to a sorta home library system. Bookbase
looks nice and tightly designed, but I need it to be able to use an
external MySQL database (and obviously ./configure tells me I don't have
mysql installed on my system). The other thing I'd need is to be able to
run it cross-platform (i.e. windows users and linux users alike).

Is this possible with bookbase, or should I look elsewhere? I'm not a
coder, but don't mind playing about with things.
