I am trying a simple bidning design, using 2 built
in 100baseT devices (eepro100) with arp. For testing,
I use a linux box and a linksys router.
Ideally I would like to use mode=5 but get the error:
Enslaving eth0 to bond0
master has no hw address assigned; getting one from
SIOCSIFSLAVE: 95 (Operation not supported).
When trying to brng up eth0.
Using the normal mode 0, I use the line
options bond0 mode=0 arp_interval=200
eth0 is run to a hub which connects to 192.168.1.1.
eth1 has 2 hubs between it and 126.96.36.199
1. Is ther error realted to trying mode-5
surmountable?> I would really like to use the
features of mode 5.
2. if an intermediate hub between eth1 and
192.168.1.1 is disconnected (so eth1 still has link to
a hub) the system does not react. I get lost packets
and the link is never marked as down in the /proc
listing. I thought the arp feature was supposed to
detect this. Any ideas on the problem?
Thanks in advance!
