I have an ia64 Linux machine running RedHat Advanced Server 2.1, with Kernel 2.4.18... It has a total of SIX ethernet interfaces...(eth0 is an eepro100, eth1 is a tg3 gigE, and eth2-5 are tulip chips).
When I boot up the machine, manually configure bonding on eth1 and eth3, everything works perfectly. (This portion of the network is for PRIVATE communication to a bunch of I/O cards through two switches).
I then configure gated(version 3.6) to run OSPF on eth0 and eth2 for redundant PUBLIC access to the Linux machine.
As soon as I kick off gated, my Bonding network stops working :( By that I mean, I can no longer ping the I/O Cards from the Linux machine...
I am NOT exactly sure if this is a gated issue or an Ethernet Bonding issue. After reading some gated documentation, I get a strong feeling that gated overwrites something in the kernel related to ALL available interfaces on the system, that causes Ethernet Bonding to stop functioning on eth1 & eth3...
- Has anyone had problems running Bonding together with other routing protocols?
- If it is a gated issue, is it possible to configure gated such that it ignores the eth1 & eth3 interfaces.
- If it is a Bonding issue (dont think so), can we configure it to be persistent in the presence of other protocols on the system?
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
