Hmm... I find that when I open a new file in Hex Fiend that the app
displays the last used template in the pop-up menu but that it does not
actually apply the template until I select it again from the menu. It
should probably display "None" instead. Try that and see if it helps.
I am using the latest beta version (2.14.0b1) but my template appears to
work fine in version 2.13.1 as well. I am able to apply it to the file
acceleration.mid that you sent in either version.
Generally, when the template is not working correctly you will see some
kind of error message in the window instead of nothing. But let me know
if you still can't get it to work.
Another tip: To reduce the amount of detail being shown by the MIDI
template, hold down the Option key and click on the disclosure triangle
for each track then click on them again without the Option key to
reopen. The subfields for each event will then be hidden and you will
see just the summaries for those events. :)
