Good News

All right, the new Mac is in my hands. Gonna try and find some time this week to get some work done. I have an idea for restructuring some parts too, so I'll work on that.

Possible Help

I don't have my Mac back yet, but I did have a help offer just over a week ago now. So at least people seem to be interested in the idea. Hopefully, this can get off the ground soon enough.

Quick Update

I know it's been a while. I will probably start development on this project in a couple weeks again. The only thing holding me back for now is the fact that I don't have my Mac. It's being replaced by Apple after having 3 failed motherboards (or logic boards, as Apple calls them). So I'll be getting a brand-new aluminum MacBook, and then I can continue with this. I have a couple ideas for it anyway, based on some courses I'm taking in university now. So hopefully this will start to get off the ground very soon.

GUI Update and Setback

While I was bored in Math class today (relearning stuff from last semester and Physics), I drew out a rough copy of what I might like the final interface to look like. I was going to just scan it in and post it in the Screenshots, but it's a little messy. So I'm recreating it in the GIMP with very rudimentary colours, just an example of what I'm thinking of.

On a less positive note though, I've lost my Mac laptop until the end of the school year because of my mark in Philosophy. So coding on the manager will have to wait until late June at least, if not longer. The GUI can continue to be developed, with feature requests and things you'd like to see in the meantime, as I can do that on my Linux computer when I have spare time (not too often anymore!).... read more

First Message and Update

All right. SVN archives are now in full swing, and the code should be able to build under any Leopard Xcode installation. I'm currently using Xcode 3.1 that came with the iPhone SDK, but it should still work under Xcode 3.0 as well. Just tried out the unstable build of 6.1.10 available from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php, and it still works fine. Means that Berkeley hasn't changed the RPC protocol in the switch to 6.x. Right now, the manager is not much of an improvement over the official manager, as still only the Projects and Tasks tabs are working at this point. I have cursory code in for the Transfers tab though, and I'm starting on a toolbar to make some tasks easier. Eventually, I'll scrap tabs altogether and go with a better interface, with some help from Nicolas Alvarez (aka PovAddict). Things are just starting to heat up...
