Hey, I haven't used bochs for very long, and this is my first post, but
I needed some info. first, last time I checked the prebuilt carbon
version of bochs online for OS X was like 2.0.4 or something. so I did a
cvs checkout and compiled myself.
The first time, I used the .conf.macosx file and I didn't check it, so I
don't kno what options are configured in and what's not. I found that
that ran a bit slow, so I recompiled for SDL use. This is my opinion
ran much faster than the Carbon version.
Now there was a couple things I needed to ask and or bring to the
attention of the properr people, and I am hoping this list is the
appropriate one to do that. When using the Carbon version I installed
minix. but when trying to set up /usr I couldn't get unmounting of
floppy drive a in bopchs to work right. Now is that a bug or what?
Number two, is the carbon API or whatever just slow anyway?
Now ccompiling on my own took some doing too. the first time I
comppiled on my own I did it from an old cvs checkout, and am not sure
whether I used --enable-plugins, or --with-plugins, whatever the string
is. but last night there was a problem with one of the eth_ files in
the plugins, and I am not sure it's a problem with the plugins, or OS
X. but in orderr to get it to compile and build I had to comment out
the call for poll.h because I read that MAc OS X does not have one.
That's about all I could understand, I am in no way an experienced
programmer. Now what does this poll.h do, and how would I go about a
proper work-around or patch, because I am sure just commenting it out
can't be good
