I've compiled bochs with PAE and GPE extensions
explicitly built in (as well as X86-64, which requires
those two). I've set their bits to 1 in CR4, loaded CR3
with the PDPT address. When I then load CR0 with CR0 |
0x80000000 it crashes.
When testing exactly the same kernel (same boot disk)
it does not crash, it even boots the rest without error.
I can upload the floppy image if you need it
This is in bochs 2.0.2 (newest official release)
Bochs runs on linux 2.4.20, slackware 9.0
The machine it's competing with (or running on) is a
duron 1200 model 6 or 7, 256mb ddr sdram, other details
