Everything looks good. The "Access" button doesn't do anything yet, that't why it says DEFAULT! OK, we're making progress - I get the browsing pages up but get an error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: dba_open() in=20 /var/www/html/bobs/inc/class_db.php on line 66 repeated on both left and right side frames. You will get an error on line 66 of class_db.php if you haven't had a successful backup yet. First, be sure the cmdloop script is running: Type 'ps x' or 'ps -fC cmdloop' to see. You can then run an immediate backup: su to root, them run '/etc/cron.daily/backup.php. You should see some scripts running for a short time if you check with 'ps -axf'. When that's done, type ;ls -R /var/bobsdata/current'. You should see the backed up documents in there somewhere. After that, the "Browse Current" should work. Konqueror works fine. The reason the index.php doesn't come up by default is in your httpd configuration. It doesn't recognize index.php as a default index page like it would index.html. In RedHat 7.3's version of Apache, the DirectoryIndex line in httpd.conf controls what names are considered index pages. I'm not sure where that's controlled in RedHat 8.0's version of Apache. I'll hopefully be checking in the latest changes today. It includes the ability to make an rpm. I also changed the OK button on the server configuration to Next and changed the BOBS button to say Restore. Please let us know how it goes. Thanks, Joe Murray Curtis wrote: >OK, we're making progress - I get the browsing pages up but get an error: > >Fatal error: Call to undefined function: dba_open() in >/var/www/html/bobs/inc/class_db.php on line 66 > >repeated on both left and right side frames. That error seems to indicate that you don't have dba support. Please check as Joe described. Have you changed php version since creating the backup? It is strange that you have .db files that contain the seemingly correct information and get this error. Hmmm, the plot thickens. I set this box up to test some ideas with qmail = and=20 it has a different (from RH7.3) version of Apache (1.3.24). When I first=20 tried Bobs, I just grabbed the latest version of PHP (4.3.1). Having prob= lems=20 I then installed the RH7.3 RPM for PHP (ver 4.1.2) but that wouldn't work= =20 with apache... The CLI php gave version 4.1.2 but the info.php script g= ave=20 version 4.3.1! I had also installed version 4.2.3 but that compile would= n't=20 give me a CLI php.... I think I'm in PHP hell. Why don't people put uninstall in their Makefile= s?? Anyway, I've finished testing the qmail thing so I might as well just=20 reinstall RH from scratch and get rid of this mess. I can then test your = new=20 rpm. Yep, the cmdloop is running. Backup.php shows no errors (nor cmdloop when= run=20 in the foreground). You should see a copy of the actual files that were backed up. For example, I am backing up a samba share named 'msworksdocs' on a computer named 'mark'. In this listing, you can see 3 of the files that were backed up in /var/bobsdata/current/mark/msworksdocs: [root@jupiter bobscustom]# tree /var/bobsdata/current/ /var/bobsdata/current/ |-- mark | |-- msworksdocs | | |-- 2-10 AS MZ.wps | | |-- Blue's Clues.wps | | |-- COLAGE.wps Are you using samba, nfs, or rsync as a method of backing up? Maybe your php dba support for db3 isn't enabled? Try this: create a
file in your html directory called info.php. Put this one line in it:
<?PHP phpinfo()?>
Open it in your web browser and you should see all sorts of information
about your php installation. Search the page for 'dba'. My version
4.2.2 of php shows this:
DBA support enabled
Supported handlers gdbm db3

I'm the author of "the old keep pushing the button trick", and here's my rationale behind it: That screen is a dynamic one, meaning that the fields presented depend on what has been selected in the drop down boxes. So I keep redisplaying the screen when anything changes - a new field or input keyed into a field. And the first time the screen is shown it's considered changed, because it's different than what was there before - nothing. I thought I was pretty clever, but it didn't work out as well as planned. So in the interim I've change the button from 'OK' to 'Next'. At least that should prompt the user to keep pushing. Your login and password is the same at you have set for the server/share you are making backups of. Should be a matter of just entering the correct ones. Please let us know if you still have problems when you have time to try it. Murray,
If you can login but see an empty file selection tree, it could be the
'cmdloop' cron job that runs in the background didn't get properly
installed. If you run 'ps x' you should see something running like
'/bin/bash /var/bobsdata/current/process/cmdloop'.
There are instructions in the INSTALL for testing the cmdloop and backup
manually.
Also, if you haven't had a successful backup, the restore tree will be
empty or get an error.
Your feedback is valuable. Thanks.
Joe

As I said, there are copies of my fi= les=20 in bobsdata/current/MyShareName as well as a couple of .db files and a .s= er=20 file. Same repeated in bobsdata/incremental too so rsync is working. NFS = is=20 ok; I can mount and rw the test directory on the server. I the= n=20 click on Access (menu across top of page) and get "DEFAULT!"=20 If it helps - in INSTALL theres a note about cleaning out the session/=20 directory occasionally. Mine is empty.
