Thank you for your prompt replies, Rene. It seems you've done quite a bit since we last talked. I'm using the mailing list as you recommended. I tried using your instructions to checkout from the cvs, and I also tried the instructions on SourceForge. No luck yet. Here's what happens: $ export CVS_RSH=ssh $ export CVSROOT=-d:ext:jz...@cv...:/cvsroot/bobs $ cvs co bobs jz...@cv...'s password: Could not chdir to home directory /home/users/j/jz/jzacky: No such file or directory cvs [server aborted]: can't chdir(/home/users/j/jz/jzacky): No such file or directory I downloaded using the anonymous cvs, but I'm sure that won't let me check-in my changes. I'm also wondering how we're going to control making changes to files without overlaying each others changes. I believe cvs controls updates by allowing only one person at a time to checkout a file in "update" mode. Which means there must be a way to check out/in individual source files instead of the whole project. Have you been checking in/out the entire project, or individual files? -------- I think a project "todo" list would be good. I use todo lists for everything. -------- Your responses to my questions were most helpful. I'll printout the README and INSTALL and try to get started on some real work. -------- Regarding automating the install: I'm sure I could write an install script, and I know the basics of using make, but I'd really like to learn how the pros use ./configure and automake. That can be a little research project for me on the todo list. |
