If the communication with cmdloop fails, the rest of the tests won't
work and your backups won't work either. If you have no backups, then
you'll get the dba error you described. You need to determine why
cmdloop isn't working.
Here's a snippet of the output of 'ps axf' on my machine:
973 ? S 0:00 /bin/bash /var/bobsdata/current/process/cmdloop
17768 ? S 0:00 \_ sleep 5
It shows cmdloop is running in the background. cmdloop is started from
check_loop which is started from /etc/crontab.
Did you get any other FAILures in the system check before the cmdloop
process FAILed? Does it show cmdloop process is running? Did you install
everything as root? If cmdloop is running, is it running as root?
cmdloop executes the files in /var/bobsdata/current/process/cmd/. Look
in that directory, it should be empty except while you're running a
systemcheck or a backup. If there are files in it delete them and try
the systemcheck again.
smb can be problematic, it can hang when unmounting, especially if you
run several tests that mount and unmount it repeatedly. Run 'mount' and
unmount the smb mount if it's mounted. Also look at 'ps axf' for any
smbmount commands that are hung and kill them.

If the files are mostly small, then it is unlikely that you have a timeout problem. Some files would almost certainly have been transferred and indexed by BOBS. How does the Engineering share differ from the other shares? That is likely were the problem is. I suggest you manually mount the windows share (on the server running BOBS). Copy a file from it to make sure you can read it. Also check that the default.excludelist in the "bobs_html_dir/inc/excludes/" dir doesn't match the files you are trying to make backups of. The definition of the file is in the rsync manpage. Do everything manually to make sure that it it possible. Then verify the settings in BOBS. Cheers Rene On Tue, 2003-11-04 at 19:09, James W. Rene: My VPN link is very slow (144K SDSL) and the amount of data on the Engineering share is about 7 GB. Is it possible that BOBS is somehow timing out? Better yet would be to try the whole chain manually. eg. Disable the backups expect for "engineering". Kill the cmdloop script and use the "backup now" button. Quickly move all the files in cd /var/bobsdata/current/process/cmd/ to another directory and from there you can run them manually one at a time. Just run them in the order ls gives you. Eg. smallest numbers first. This is needed because the scripts are deleted after use when not run manually. My guess is that something with the smbmount is causing problems. Simple copying all files on the share might reveal it. Hope this helps. Rene |

Check Configuration output is completely normal except for errors on the restore checks. Apparently NFS will not re-export an smbmounted share. This is the same with the other two smbmounted shares yet they backup just fine. If I need to restore something for this box I'll just have to do it temporarily by hand until I can move things around and onto the Linux box. You shouldn't have to change the include path of your http
configuration. The include files in admin.php are coded as
'inc/<whatever>' relative to the current directory. Did you compile with
the option '--with-webdir=/home/groups/home/web' ? What exactly was the
error original include path error? The ./configure command line you used
plus the output of it may help shed some light on the problem too, if
you'd care to post that.

Sounds like inc/class_admin.php wasn't executed. The check_admin()
member function is in there. Let's go back to the original include
error. What did it say?

Did you replace "db3" with "db4" in all files? The databases are createed using the "inc/templates/backup_create_databases.php" Are the databases created with a size larger than 0 bytes? Maybe "gdbm" would work instead of "db3". Never tested it and I don't know if it supports the call I used in BOBS. You can give it a try if all else fails. Be sure that "gdbm" is compiled into php. Hope this helps Cheers Rene > Hi, > I am trying toget BOBS going on a Mandrake 9.1 machine. Hi
I'm can't come up with any suggestions to your problem.
Please report PHP version along with the Apache version you are using.
That may help me guess what the problem is.
Cheers

Hi, I am trying toget BOBS going on a Mandrake 9.1 machine. I read the mails relating to the problem, and made the changes to the code (db3 to db4) as suggested, but I am still having problems. I did have a look at taking out db4 and using db3 but there seemed to be too many dependencies to try. Anyway, I can setup a backup, and it seems to run okay. The current/process/session/xxxx.restore.dirindex.db and xxxx.search.dirindex.db 's are both 0 k WHen I try to browse the backup I get Warning: dba_open(/var/bobsdata/current/process/session/1353406284.search.dirindex.db,w) [function.dba-open]: Driver initialization failed for handler: db4: Invalid argument in /var/www/html/bobs/inc/class_db.php on line 62 Warning: dba_fetch(): supplied argument is not a valid DBA identifier resource in /var/www/html/bobs/inc/class_db.php on line 293 No files were found in I would appreciate any help - someone said they got it going but I don' seem to be able to. Hi from Barcelona !
I don´t think this problem is directly related to
BOBS, more than likely it´s my PHP configuration, but
maybe someone can shed some light on it.
System I am using is a Sun Cobalt Qube 3, which comes
with Red Hat Enterprise Linux preinstalled. with a lot
of services (httpd, samba, php, etc) preconfigured.
I downloaded BOBS, configured and installed it as
standard (with the web directory pointing to the
Cobalt default '/home/groups/home/web'), and
everything seemed OK. When I first ran it I got an
error indicating the include path. So I added
'/home/groups/home/web/bobs:/home/groups/home/web/bobs/inc'
to the include_path in my /etc/httpd/php.ini file.
I restarted the httpd daemon, this time the BOBS admin
screen came up OK. But after entering the password
this error message came up
"Fatal error: Call to a member function on a
non-object in /home/groups/home/web/bobs/admin.php on
line 62"
Looking in the admin.php file this refers to the
following piece of code
--------------------------------
if ($admin->check_admin($_POST['password']) != "yes"){
admin_login();
exit;
}
--------------------------------
And so i´m a little bit stuck, wanting to try out this
software but not being able to get any further !
Can anyone shed any light if this is a problem with
BOBS, or if there is someting amiss in my PHP setup?
I apologise if this question is not relevant to the
mailing list, but i didn´t really know where else to
go.
Thanks for your help
Robin

I'm scaling down my efforts since I already have too much work to be done. That said, I still use BOBS and I'll keep any changes I make in sync with the sourceforge cvs. Anyone is free to make changes so if you feel like it you can just jump in. As for a new release. Well that is hard to tell when that would happen. Cheers Rene |

From the patch list on the sourceforge site, I made the changes recommended and got in. (I also returned the $admin_ok value to "no"). However, when I changed the admin password through the link, it returned to the same problem of claiming the password is incorrect. The file encryption content did get changed. So I simply re-copied the admin.pwd file from the tar distribution back into the bobsdata directory and was able to get working with the default admin password for now. > -----Original Message----- > From: bob...@li... > [mailto:bob...@li...]On Behalf Of Joe Zacky > Sent: samedi 13 septembre 2003 18:58 > To: bob...@li... > Subject: Re: [Bobs-devel] rpm install error - help > > > > > Robert White wrote: > > Well, all I know is that the admin panel absolutely refused to > accept the > > "admin" default password or any other method I tried, including > removing and > > re-installing. When bobs loads you don't want that set to "yes" since admin would always be logged in. Any password would let you in. And the the same applies to everybody else who has access to your LAN. The comment is sane when you know php classes and sessions and how they work. You took it out of its context and then it doesn't make as much sense. > I understand this is alpha code and a new project. I am very, very > interested in the GUI. You can use rsync (with ssh) to make backups of remote machines. It really comes down to what you need to do. You could setup tunneling and what not and have bobs use that with NFS or SMB.
