#6 Bug #519625 Workaround (fix?)

As reported in Bug #519625 there is an inability to
login, once a login failure has occurred. I've since
discovered the same behaviour if the session is expired
due lack of use beyond the maxtime.

I'm still not 100% sure of the cause of this. But the
attached patch seems to alleviate the problem. Whether
this is an actual fix or a workaround I'm not sure.
Clearly the changes here are minor and there may be
other places in the source that a similar change would
need to be made.
