We've been using UHD in a programme delivery context and so it's also important for us. Are there any specific incompatibilities with XAVC that are causing an issue?
It's been years since I looked at UHD/H.264 and I think bmx should support it, but it may support a limited subset of XAVC for example. There might be some very detailed constraints in XAVC such as how the video should be encoded or the H.264 bytestream layed out.

There is a trend towards XAVC Intra for UHD. We are still at the beginning of the tests. So I can't say exactly which subset of XAVC will be relevant. It would perhaps be useful if Table 1 of the RDD32 recommendation could be supported in a first step.
During our first tests we noticed that in addition to the easy to change KAG size, the CDCI Descriptor is partially filled in incorrectly. Also the System Item Timecode is missing, at least if it is not already present on the input.
UHD XAVC Intra uses the AVC High 422 Intra Profile unconstrained label, but behaves similar to an RP2027 constrained class. Not completely, because besides the Constrained Bytes per GOP variant with fixed frame size there is also the Variable Bit Rate mode where the frame size may be lower.
