I cleared space on the end of my SSD for Bluestar and edited partition.conf to allow for BTRFS as the file system. I chose Desktop Pro for the install and all went well. Once on the desktop I ran into FreeFileSync not wanting to install. I ended up installing ArcoLinux Spices so I could add the XeroLinux Repos to add their welcome app and use it to fix the GPG keys. After that items I wanted to install from the AUR including FreeFileSync installed without issue. The next issue is not everything I should need to enter my password for is asking for it. Several times the action was just done without asking me for my password. I'm assuming that this is due to 1001 instead of 1000 being user for the default user. In the future is there a way before I do the actual install of making sure 1000 is used for the default user. The other issue using 1001 instead of 1000 is that if you use RootActions and give yourself ownership of certain folders under root you lose that same permission in other OS's you have installed, and end up having to give it back to yourself. Other than this Bluestar seems pretty stable and solid on top of the great optimization options available.

I would like a response to this.

Have you thought about creating or at least including a tool for fixing the PGP keys when they need it?

How about offering BTRFS as a option out of the gate?

Possibly creating a tutorial so peep can edit the installer to create their user as 1000 instead of 1001?

giueppe looks like they don't care to help in any way shape or form. I just tried BlueStar DeskPro again and once one the desktop get presented with cannot update something about wrong URL. Then I get the same message clicking on Octopi in the systray as you got. Then when I do finally get Octopi to launch I cannot get any version of pamac to install. The Os looks great with a great selection of software to choose from before starting the install to save time once on the desktop, but not worth it if once on the desktop I can't install what I want.

@Locutus - for detailed documentation, please check out the arch wiki.

pgp is included with the release, and the assumption is that either one knows how to use it or one checks the man page: "gpg --recv-keys key" is the syntax.

as for uid, the linux utility, useradd, assigns user IDs starting at 1001.

no. if you took a quick look around you'll notice their are no discussions, so I'm not sure what exactly would lead you to believe that anyone monitors this page. discussions are at the facebook page - bluestarlinux.org will redirect you there.

    cheers
