Frank, I am not as saavy as most web developers, as a matter of fact I just use what's the developers provide us in the software, I just plug it all in. So I am not familiar with the "black box" terminology.
But when testing mods or functions I use a test site that basically resembles my live site. And it resides at my test domain. Is this helpful?

When I change for example configuration files of the web server or db server,
then I want to ensure that I do not break anything.
So I am thinking to test these changes in an automated black box test.
Is there an existing test system with test cases that can be utilized for this?
