Please see this issue: https://github.com/kunstmusik/blue/issues/651#issuecomment-1107655658 That has information on how to use the latest dev build to get around this. The last release of Blue was done when the Java ecosystem was a little different and the scripts that start Blue don't detect for JVM correctly. The latest dev builds include a JDK embedded within the app so it should run out of the box. You may need to delete preference folder prior to starting. Steven, I'm having some troubles with Java, Blue 2.8.1, an M1 Mac and Monterey. Everything works fine on an Intel Mac with Monterey. With the M1, I'm getting an issue with Blue complaining about the Java version: org.netbeans.InvalidException: StandardModule:com.kunstmusik.blue.plaf jarFile: /Users/pfisher/Desktop/ blue.app/Contents/Resources/blue/blue/modules/com-kunstmusik-blue-plaf.jar: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: blue/plaf/Installer has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 55.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 52.0 I've installed Java 11 and 17 but I have a feeling the Java 8 JRE is still lurking (I know the Internet Plug-in is) and the Java Control panel is not recognizing the other versions. Anyone have any tips on getting rid of Java 8? Hi tjingboem, thanks for your reply. I've found it, I didn't expect it to be in the tools menu. Best, Stefan Am Sa., 23. Dear community, I would like to know: can I change the font size and maybe the font itself in an editor window of blue and how could this be done? Thanks, Stefan |

I haven't seen this before. Double checking: can you confirm you had exited Blue prior to deleting the c:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\blue folder? A couple of other questions: 1. Does your system use network drives? 2. Where did you place the blue folder prior to executing blue64.exe? Try two things: 1. Try deleting your blue preferences. Should be in c:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\blue. There's been similar issues reported that I haven't figured out how to reproduce which seems to get fixed by deleting the preferences. 2. Try using blue64.exe. (I'll probably remove blue.exe and make blue64.exe the default to avoid confusion moving forward) On Wed, Apr 20, 2022 at 2:34 PM giulio romano < giu...@gm...> wrote: > I've download from this link > https://github.com/kunstmusik/blue/actions/runs/2141672361 > the Blue windows zip. > > I've unzipped the file and I ran the blue.exe program from the "bin" > folder. > when it opens: > > Il lun 18 apr 2022, 04:04 Steven Yi <ste...@gm...> ha scritto: > >> I'm confused, the latest WIndows build I linked to includes Java with it. >> Is this the one you tried? Dear Jan Jacob, This is the latest dev work for 2.8.2. It is returning back to Swing and removing JavaFX, of which the work is mostly complete but still has some things to fix. I would suggest making backups of any projects before testing this as a just-in-case. If you have Java installed onto your system, this should not be an issue as Blue will launch with its included version now and is isolated from the system's Java. Thanks! Dear Steven, thanks, I will try that. Do I have to uninstall my current version of Java on my Mac first or will they both run in parallel without interfering each other? And: Is this also an update of blue or is it blue 2.8.1 now bundled with Java? Hi All, FYI: I've made a change for macOS builds to now include Java 17 JDKs with the release. This should "just work" now when you download Blue (assuming you have Csound installed). There are two versions, one for arm64 (i.e, M1 processors) and another for x86_64 (i.e., Intel processors). The trick is that the version used should match your CPU as well as the version of Csound you have installed. 1. If you have an intel CPU, use the x86_64 version. 2. If you have an M1 processor and using the current Csound macOS installer release, use x86_64. 3. If you have an M1 process and built Csound using Homebrew or self-compiled, use arm64. The windows build was already embedding a JDK and was updated to Java 17. Latest builds are testable here: https://github.com/kunstmusik/blue/actions/runs/2193533644 If you have any questions or feedback, please let me know. Thanks! Steven |

I'm confused, the latest WIndows build I linked to includes Java with it. Is this the one you tried? It should run without any intervention without any other java installed. If the linked one was used, could you provide more information than "it didn't work", e.g., can you list the steps you took to execute the application. Hi, just run blue.exe or blue64.exe, both located in bin folder. It should work. Hi Giulio, This may be a problem with the last published version of Blue. Could you try downloading the latest dev build here (requires login with Github account): https://github.com/kunstmusik/blue/actions/runs/2141672361 >From the artifacts section for Windows build. This build should include a JDK with it. Let me know how this one goes, thanks! Hi Jan Jacob, It looks like jdk 13 is being used, also OSX 10.12 is a bit older so may be a little tricky to diagnose. I think if you could email me offlist the full info I can look into it further. The message "Termination Reason: DYLD, [0x4] Symbol missing" makes me curious if something changed in 6.17. Also, which version of Blue are you using? Thanks! Dear Steven, since I updated Csound from 6.16 to 6.17 beginning of February and also updated java to java 8-update 321 a few days ago I noticed, that my Code for spatialization does crash right away if I do render. It runs on my Linux-Computer, some example pieces from blue work here on my mac on blue too, but my own code crashes that used to run before… I do get a crash report from blue then, which I do send here… at least the beginning. If you need the full report, just let me know. I am here on mac OS X 12.6 Have you got an idea what might be wrong? Hi all, i just uploaded a new Video Tutorial: The External Scores in Blue tutorial shows how algorithmic scores are generated in Blue, in particular how this is done using 3rd party score generating programs (programs that are not part of Blue). Blue is an Integrated Music Environment, powered by Csound. Developer of Blue is Steven Yi. This program can be downloaded at https://blue.kunstmusik.com/ Contents: - importing from BlueShare - ObjectBuilder: nGen Score Generator. (nGen itself must be installed: http://mikelkuehn.com/index.php/ng) - ObjectBuilder: AthenaCL Score Generator. (AthenaCL for Python3 must be installed: https://github.com/ales-tsurko/athenaCL) - how to deal with Note Processors that are variable over time in combination with Scaling of the Objects - CsBeats Voice Over: Mieke Bába Editor: Icu Knevel Director: Menno Knevel (http://www.geluidsmanvanhetnoorden.nl/) |

Hi all, i have uploaded to BlueShare 3 effects- for you to download and use. 1. ADSR imposes ADSR envelopes on the incoming signal. All controllers are automatable. Based on UDOs from Steven Yi: https://github.com/kunstmusik/libsyi/ 2. Equal 4 simple equalizer sections, each with their own frequency range. Uses the opcode eqfil, a 2nd order tunable equalisation filter based on Regalia and Mitra design. The amplitude response for this filter will be flat (=1) for kgain=1. With kgain bigger than 1, there will be a peak at the centre frequency. 3. AudaxEQ a 10-band EQ equalizer, using the UDO from Steven Yi: https://github.com/kunstmusik/libsyi/blob/master/audaciouseq.udo that, in turn, is a Csound UDO implementation of Audacious' EQ: https://github.com/audacious-media-player/audacious/blob/master/src/libaudcore/equalizer.cc Also, i'd like to mention that old Blue effects, sometimes corrected and sometimes improved and all with BSB GUI, can be downloaded from https://github.com/tjingboem/Blue-effects. greetings, Menno |
