Dear Steven, I can now report that blue runs fine on both of my systems, Ubuntu 20.04 (latest release) on a Lenovo Thinkpad 430 and also on Mac Pro with OS X (10.14.06 Mojave). Although the GUI has now the new FlatLAF look and feel, all BSB GUI-items such as knobs and faders have stayed on their place and also the positioning of the code is unaffected by that change. Great! I curious to discover all changes... Thanks for everything, Steven, Jan Jacob sound | movement | object | space sonic architecture | site: http://www.sonicarchitecture.de spatial electronic composition | higher order ambisonic music > Am 27.07.2023 um 20:40 schrieb Steven Yi <ste...@gm...>: > > Hi All, > > I've release a new version of Blue at: > > https://blue.kunstmusik.com > > v2.9.0 removes the use of JavaFX from the system and also embeds Java runtimes on macOS and Windows so that the program should only require a working installation of Csound to run out-of-the-box. It's the fact that apt tries to connect with repositories through the system downstairs, where the modem responds to everything complex by a long delay, followed by a message that apt can't interpret, saying ~please contact our billing dept, oh well. Later today I'll try stuffing the bin files into /usr/local/bin, the files in lib into /usr/local/lib...(?) Hi Forrest, here is a guide how to install it: https://www.linode.com/docs/guides/how-to-install-openjdk-ubuntu-22-04/ …but it uses apt. You said, that you could not use it, right? & okay, I'd extracted the contents of OpenJDK17U-jdk_x64_linux_hotspot_17.0.8_7.tar.gz, and got a bin directory with a lot of executable files.. I don't know what to do with. Can I install these in the system somewhere, or do I just tell blue to look for them in ~/jdk[stuff]/bin? My landlord's wifi connection downstairs has gotten erratic to the point I can't connect a package-manager through it, while "apt install" times out with a message that it wasn't able to connect to the _modem_. I don't, of course, have or want a password to that; the system shouldn't even be asking me for it! I can download programs from websites, copy and use addresses from emails; I just can't get packages except manually, individually from debian.org -- & I don't know which versions of java-what programs the current Blue requires. Thanks Jan Jacob! There's still more to tweak with the changeover to FlatLAF look and feel, but I felt comfortable that it was stable enough to be used and that it would help users more than dealing with installation issues with 2.8.1. ;) Happy to hear any feedback! Hi All, I've release a new version of Blue at: https://blue.kunstmusik.com v2.9.0 removes the use of JavaFX from the system and also embeds Java runtimes on macOS and Windows so that the program should only require a working installation of Csound to run out-of-the-box. There are a number of other bugs and small features listed in the ChangeLog. I will be working on smaller features and bug fixes in 2.9.x while working on larger system and feature changes moving forward in 2.10.x. Thanks and enjoy! Steven |

Hi Andreas, The last released version of Blue has issues. The latest dev builds of Blue embed a JVM and should "just work"; they can be downloaded from github actions for Blue. Hi I am trying to install Blue but I am having problems. I have installed the JVM and java -version gives me: openjdk version "11.0.16" 2022-07-19 OpenJDK Runtime Environment Temurin-11.0.16+8 (build 11.0.16+8) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM Temurin-11.0.16+8 (build 11.0.16+8, mixed mode) So it seems to be allright. I’ve downloaded the zip file with the Blue.app, unzipped it, and located it in the Applications folder. However, when I try to open Blue from the Applications folder, it won’t launch. I am on macOS 12.6 and csound 6.17. Best, Andreas |

I'm a bit stumped on this. I think maybe the next step is sending me the log from c:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\blue\dev\var\logs (can send off list). It may provide some more information that can help to diagnose what is happening.
