The "Getting started" tutorial is now available to help users in installing and using blueMarine. To access the tutorial, go to the website http://www.tidalwave.it/bluemarine and use the "Getting started" link in the left side menu bar.
The forum board has been moved to the blueMarine website. Go to http://www.tidalwave.it/bluemarine and select "Forum board" from the left-side menu.
The blueMarine website has been redesigned upon the popular opensource "Mambo". This allowed for the implementation of a better organized and more interactive website, able to support the blueMarine community that hopefully will see the light in the next future as blueMarine matures.
There are just a few new features in v0.8.4 such as histograms. Basically this is an intermediate release in which a lot of refactoring has been implemented to broke some dependencies among internal modules and pave the way for the incoming modular plugin architecture.
v0.8.3 fixes a number of bugs and implements a good deal of new features. It also solves old problems with Mac OS - and starting from this version blueMarine is natively tested on Mac OS.
The internal structure of the project has been optimized and it is easier to import blueMarine into Eclipse.
Due to a higher load than expected in my job, blueMarine release schedule has been delayed.
Version 0.8.3 is being finalized now and will be released in a week.
Starting from 1/3/2005 I'm able to do testing on MacOS by myself - I've bought a Mac Mini :-)
I can confirm that v0.8.2 runs fine on MacOS.
Version v0.8.2 with many improvements and expanded compatibility has been released.

This build include a number of relevant bug fixes. Furthermore, a camera test suite has been setup to ensure the compatibility with most camera bodies on the market (see http://www.tidalwave.it/bluemarine/cameras\).
Thanks to Martin Eskildsen, a page with detailed instructions about building blueMarine with Eclipse 3 are available (http://www.tidalwave.it/bluemarine/eclipse.html).
v0.8.0 of blueMarine has been released. With this milestone, the project enters the alpha stage. The main purpose of releases v0.8.x will be to verify the compatibility of blueMarine with various file formats (TIFF support is on the way) and coming from different photo cameras and scanners. A photo test suite is being set up on this purpose.
These are some of the major news since the previous release: Java 5 integration on Windows and Linux, many improvements in the file explorers and with the drag and drop support, photo browser optimizations for dealing with directories containing a very large number (thousands) of thumbnails, enhancements on the thumbnail popup menu for managing the catalog, support for EXIF metadata also for JPEG files.
v0.7.8 features some bug fixes, Java(TM) 5 fully compability, some changes in the default skin, and the availability of compact installers for Windows and Linux which do not include an embedded Java(TM) Virtual Machine.
With v0.7.8 blueMarine quits pre-alpha status: now the software can be installed without any major problems in all the supported platforms.
From the next release (v0.8.0) test will be focused on the thumbnail generation and photo display capabilities.
v0.7.7 fixes a blatant bug in the startup wizard and mainly addresses some issues related to Linux and Mac OS.
Though still in pre-alpha status, the blueMarine project is today being announced to the world, including some leading photographers' communities. "Alea jacta est".
blueMarine v0.7.5 is the first release that is distributed together with a self-installer executable. Also Linux and MacOS X installers have been released, but they are still untested.
