xp-mapedit, which comes with xpilot-4.5.4
in src/mapedit, should be added to the clients
package. Probably nessesary to adapt it to
GNU autotools. Would this be much work?
The editor is not really up to date and its
handling of map options is quite clumsy,
but it is still very useful to create and modify
block maps. Options can be set with any
text editor anyway.
I do have enough work with the X11 client
and no knowledge about how to use the
autotools. So I'd welcome any help.

Perhaps better don't include the map
editor, because it consists of quite a bit of source
code and we don't have enough developers to look
after even more things. Building xp-mapedit from
the xpilot-ng package showed several warnings while
compiling, allthough it build and ran successfully.
Allthough a map editor is nessesary to support the
game, currently I think it's okay to use it from
the ng or xpilot-4.x packages.
