I am using Blat v2.6.2

When trying to send a test e-mail from our new Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64) box, using the following command:
blat C:\testfile.txt -s test_subject -to <e-mail address>
I get an error: "A Win32 command line eMail tool has stopped working."

Blat is currently located in C:\Windows\System32, however, I have also tried putting into C:\Windows, C:\Windows\SysWOW64 and the root of C:\ all to no avail. I get the same error message from all locations.

I have tried running Blat as an Administrator, and I have also tried running it in compatibility mode for Windows Server 2003 SP1, but again, I get the same error as before.

Is there a fix to get Blat working on Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64)?

Blat definitely does work on Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64).

The problem is actually due to the SMTP server not being able to be reached, but not necessarily because of a typo or incorrect SMTP server being used.

In my case, the problem was being caused by McAfee VirusScan Enterprise v8.7.0i
It had the default policies applied, which meant that mass mailing was blocked.

    To unblock:
McAfee VirusScan Console > Access Protection > Properties > Antivirus Standard Protection > Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail (untick block) > Apply > OK

Blat should now work - hurrah!
