This is an enhanced version of GNU GhostScript initiated and maintained by the author of CUPS, Mike Sweet. This version is intended once to be used as RIP (raster image processor) for CUPS to convert PostScript into the CUPS raster format, but it also contains many bug fixes and additional drivers which are not in GNU GhostScript. ESP GhostScript does not require CUPS, it can be used with any spooler, preferrably with the help of Foomatic on http://www.linuxprinting.org/.
