You are the first :-) Do you want to do your work on Windows or Linux? > - 25+ years hardware, firmware, and software development > - C, assembler, BASIC programmer; also FORTRAN and PL/1 (years ago!) bitpim is written in Python which is a simple object oriented programming language. Choose view on this: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/bitpim/bitpim/com_lgvx4400.py Look through the whole file and decide if you would understand enough to make minor tweaks. There are several tutorials at http://www.python.org/doc/Newbies.html > - performing musician well versed in MIDI data formats That will come in VERY handy when I move onto enhancing the ringtone stuff. I am going to need to convert files to type 0 format, figure out how long they are, and chop the file to start and end at certain points. Roger |

What does it take for a phone to get moved off of the debug list and supported in the released versions? -phil |

These look useful, much improved navigation. How useful are the UP and DOWN buttons, with 4 arrows the screen looks a little cluttered. Simon > -----Original Message----- > From: bit...@li... > New & improved contact editor, which allows retrieving the next/previous > contact item. What happens if you have made changes? Is the user prevented from going next/previous and if so, is it obvious why? The real problem are the up/down arrows. If someone is feeling adventurous it may be possible to put little up/down arrows on each field which will then make it blindingly obvious what they are for. Roger |

What about a list control with a line per phone number. You could have an up and down button. If you add or modify an entry it would bring up a dialog. This is a picture of the directory setting dialog from visual studio 6 which shows the idea of the buttons, similar to the user text in the sms tab. Simon |

Every single item on every tab is a field and they all need the ability to be deleted, moved up or down, and for a new field to be added. I've attached what I think it should look like - beware my poor photoship skills though :-) Roger |

Joe, I noticed that you added my sounds support for the 8100, the 5200 also uses the same code, will it need to be modified? It looks like a new field was added to the ringtonelocations. SImon |

Dear David: I saw you have send an e-mail to the BitPim team. I want to add support for an unsuported phone. Could you give me an idea of how to get started? I am a systems engineer so I think I have the background to do it. I hope this is no trouble for you. hello. I am wanting to use Bitpim to change the front lcd display picture on my razr v9. Just the display picture when the phone is opened. My phone is not on the bitpim list. I have tried everything. I just got this phone as a birthday present over the internet Oct 5 and when I opened it and looked at the front display picture I was very disapointed. I am so close to buying another one. But I found bitpim, and thought i could save myself some $ if i just did it myself. Please help thanks Zak |

Zak, The Motorola Razr V9 is not compatible with BitPim. It is a GSM phone. BitPim only supports CDMA phones. You might google razr v9 hacks. > File "serial\serialwin32.pyo", line 186, in setBaudrate > error: (87, 'SetCommState', 'The parameter is incorrect.') This is because whatever you told bitpim is a com port isn't a com port. Change it in Edit -> Settings. You need to restart bitpim for it to pick up the new setting. Roger |
