Birne, a Gtk+ program for burning CDs written in Python, is now available in
version 0.2.0. The major new feature is the ability to burn audio CDs from Wave,
MP3 and Ogg Vorbis files. Previously, only files and ISO images could be
processed. Support for copying CDs will be added later..

Decoding of audio files is done without external programs. You only need pymad
(http://spacepants.org/src/pymad/), pyao and pyvorbis
(http://www.andrewchatham.com/pyogg/). These libraries should be part of most
major linux distributions and/or BSD flavours.... read more
