The latest release is now available for download at download.bimserver.org <http://download.bimserver.org/> . The demoserver (which was offline during the final stage of development) is back online as well. Check it out on demo.bimserver.org <http://demo.bimserver.org/> . Together with the new software, the team also launches their new website <http://www.bimserver.org/> . Hi Diego, Sorry for the late reply. It's great to hear you are excited about the BIMserver! Writing documentation is on our todo list (for a while now...) I am not exactly sure what you are trying to do, but I think the ChangeSet's would be usefull in your situation. A ChangeSet describes additions, modifications and removals of object's in a certain model (stored in the BIMserver). The SOAP service has a call "processChangeSet" which can handle a ChangeSet object. The ChangeSet specification is however still in development, and probably not sufficient for a lot of situations, we'd like to have your feedback on it! Let me know if you have any more questions. Hi all, I'm really excited about the idea behind BIMserver and I will try to use it in my thesis. However, I'm trying to use a service to modify/add the information of some classes in the IFC file. Can you give a link to the service documentation or maybe you can tell me how to do that? Thanks in advance, Diego Fernando Serrano MSc. Student University of Alberta |

Finally its there! For those who do not have the right admin-permission (or just do not have the patience) to install the open source bimserver on their own pc, we have installed it on one of our own servers. This ‘demoserver‘ on http://demo.bimserver.org <http://demo.bimserver.org/> gives you he possibility to test the very latest version of the bimserver. This version even has more features than the latest stable release. Some new features at a glance: * Download the model (or parts of the model) as ifcXML; * The query functions are easier to find; * Query parts of the model using the IFC GUID (we know some of you were waiting for this!) This version also has multiuser behavior (kind of for a necessary feature for an online server). You can also find all this new stuff in the latest version of the sourcecode. All these features are not tested very well (and that is why they are not in the stable release). We kind of hope you guys will help test them by using this demoserver. So please help us find issues, feed us with feature-requests and userfeedback. Want to start right away? Go to http://demo.bimserver.org <http://demo.bimserver.org/> and use the ‘register’ button to open an account. with kind regards, 敬上 Léon van Berlo -- Email: Leo...@tn... Leon, Around the 17th March Peter is coming to London with three purposes: (1) to meet Bill East, from the US Army corp of Engineers (2) to talk with me about development. (3) to talk about the licencing of ifcengine and bimserver. Can you be available on Monday , or on Tuesday morning for a conf call with Bill: his interest is (a) hosting BIMSERVER behind the existing highly secure US Army PROJNET design repository and administration server (b) adding extra services to BIMSERVER: Transformation from other format and presentations into IFC Transformations from IFC into other Formats and Presentations Code Compliance checking Filtering out selected IFC data from models Merging IFC models I expect you’d like to learn more ! You helped us a lot by testing the first version and by giving us your feedback. The best feedback we had was lot of people saying that this is not a 0.1 version but more like a 1.0. We have some wild ideas for the 1.0 version, so for the time being we stick to the 0.1. Thanks to your help in testing, we have done some development and publish the second release candidate today. You can see the changes in the changelog <http://download.bimserver.org/latest/changes-0.1RC2.txt> . The best new feature (we think) is that the standalone BIMserver jarfile now has a simple UI that makes starting/stopping the server easier. What we also did was pushing 3Gb of IFC files into the server, and pulling it out again. Just to test the reading, writing mechanism. Some new bugs came up, but we fixed them immediately. Thanks to that we now have some cool error messages when the server gets a corrupt IFC file. You can see an example on this link <http://www.bimserver.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/result.html> (generated from the almost 1600 IFC files we have used during the test). Dear BIM'ers, The first official public available version of the open source BIMserver is online! We have called our first result version 0.1RC1. Yes, indeed it is still a Release Candidate, as it should be, because it is only tested very basicly. This version has some issues we know of. We are working on them and they will be fixed in the first release. Instead of waiting a few weeks untill the are fixed, we decided to go public today so the community can help us improve the software.
